Shari Matthews Huizar, LCSW

Shari Matthews Huizar, LCSW is a licensed clinical social worker with more than 30 years of experience working with diverse communities, specializing in work within law enforcement with victims of crime and their families and crisis intervention.  Ms. Matthews Huizar is currently the Social Services Manager of the Social Services Unit of the Wheeling Police Department supervising a team of police social workers/victim advocates and previously served as the Director of Human Services of the Village of Wheeling.  Ms. Matthews Huizar is fluent in Spanish and English and has worked throughout her career on bridging the gap between law enforcement and the Latino community. Ms. Matthews Huizar is a graduate of Luther College, Decorah, IA with a bachelor’s degree in Social Work and a graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago-Jane Addams School of Social Work with a Master’s Degree in Social Work concentrating in policy and management.
